Bryan M. Sims


Naperville Attorney Bryan Sims of Sims Law Firm Ltd., concentrates his practice in the areas of commercial litigation and civil appeals. Before entering private practice, Bryan worked as a judicial law clerk for Illinois Supreme Court Justice S. Louis Rathje. He has also worked as a staff attorney for the Second District of the Illinois Appellate Court.

Since entering private practice, Bryan has devoted approximately 80% of his practice to commercial litigation, representing companies and individuals in disputes involving breaches of contract, improper disclosure of trade secrets, covenants not to compete, and fraud claims. Bryan has represented a variety of businesses, large and small, local, national, and international in a variety of legal matters.

Further, Bryan has been involved in litigation involving mechanic's liens, business disputes and many areas of the real estate and construction industries. Bryan also uses his experience in these areas to assist homeowners' association clients. Also, with his experience at both the Supreme Court and Appellate Court levels, Bryan brings a valuable perspective to his appellate work.

The remainder of Bryan's practice involves transactional work involving primarily residential real estate including mortgage foreclosures, landlord-tenant law, title litigation, corporate formation and contracts.

He is a member of the Illinois Bar and the Northern District of Illinois Trial Bar. He is also admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court, the United State Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit, the United States courts in the Central District of Illinois, the Southern District of Illinois, and the Eastern District of Michigan.

Bryan is a member of the Illinois State Bar Association, the DuPage County Bar Association, the Will County Bar Association, and the American Bar Association. He is a member of the ISBA Standing Committee on Legal Technology, where he has previously served as chair and currently serves as the newsletter editor. He has been a member of the 2006 through 2013 ISBA Solo and Small Firm Conference Planning Committees.

Bryan has spoken on legal technology issues at the ISBA Solo and Small Firm Conferences, at ABA Techshow, at the Wisconsin Solo and Small Firm Conference, for the DuPage County Bar Association, the Kane County Bar Association, the Chicago Bar Association, the International Technology Law Association, and the Lake County (Indiana) Bar Association.

Bryan has been quoted in several articles, including in the ISBA Bar Journal, Lawyer's USA, and the Daily Herald Business Ledger

He is a 1993 Cum Laude graduate of Wheeling Jesuit University and a 1996 Magna Cum Laude graduate of Loyola University Chicago School of Law. While in law school, Bryan served on the staff of both the Loyola Law Journal and the Loyola Consumer Law Reporter.
